Long Life
Living a long healthy life is what we all hope for in our own lives and indeed for the lives of those we love and care about. But although we wish this for each other we tend to forget that in many cases we have the choice ourselves to make that wish come true. If we have been lucky enough to have been blessed with health from a young age then we are amongst the lucky ones, but that does not mean that we should take our good health for granted. Just like with everything else it takes maintenence and a little effort, or sometimes a lot, to keep your body running smoothly and with few problems.
Colds, Coughs and the Flu
When the weather begins to change and you start to feel that freshness in the air you can tell that we're heading for winter. Inevitably along too comes winter's best friend, the Flu.We all get it, some manage to hold out longer than others, some get vacinated and some just GET IT! Sniffle. There's no escaping it,the flu is a nasty bug to get, but there are ways to get rid of it just that little bit faster.
Remedies
If you get struck down with a cold or flu, these little suggestions could end up being your favourite things:- keep yourself relaxed
- drink lot of water to help keep your body temperature down
- Reserve yor enegy
- Lots of soups and other fluids help move the virus though your system quicker
Back Ache
Even though coughs and colds come and go, somthing more serious that can haggle you everyday of your life is something like back pain. Back pain can cause loss of mobility and so can have quite a drastic effect on your lifestyle.
Simple measure from when you are young like, bending your knees when you bend to pick up something from low down. Getting someone to help you when you have to lift something heavy is also a way of protecting your back from weakening, especially if you are working in a job that requires bending and lifting everyday.
The pitfall here is that when you are young and healthy you feel strong enough to not worry about these things, but that will be the very reason that you end up suffering from back pain.
Using ergonomic furniture at work seems to be a great idea, but we're not all lucky enough to have a boss that will dish out 3 times the price for a special chair that he's not sitting on, so we have to use our common sense. Use a cusion to improve your height at your desk if you are sitting too low, and even offer to bring your own chair in (for your own use), if you find that the office furniture is causing you any aches and pains.
Remedies
In the case where you do have back trouble, it can be too hard to grin and bear, but there really is no need to . These days there are chiropractors, acupuncturists, phisiotherapists and even the good ol GP. So you wouldn't be short of a second medical opinions.
In fact, with the amount of doctors and alternative medical practitioners out there today it's a suprise that we should be suffering from anything at all. But just like everything else, there is the good and the bad. So you have to find the right medical help that suits you.
Teeth and Eyes
You may say, well it's going to be a little difficult looking after the health of my teeth and eyes, but it may be easier than you first think.
It is possible to tell the health of a person by the health of their teeth and by the sharp, bright look of their eyes. So first of all, take care of the obvious; calcium for healthy bones and teeth (and regular brushing), and carrots for healthy eyes sight. If you were to look after your general health by eating a good balanced diet, if you walked and exercised regualarly and if you lived well without filling your body with unecessary chemicals, your eyes would be bright and your teeth white. Now that sounds like a sure sign of good health.
General Health
On the whole our health is everything. It is a better measure of wealth than even money. After all what good is all the money in the world if you cannot enjoy it. It's a hard one to believe unless you loose your health and then you are sure to agree.I will leave you with the most obvious thing to say about health, still I do not tire saying it because it is one of the truest things in life: Prevention is Better Than The Cure.
